Personalized Satin Finish Pewter Tankard

This 16 oz. pewter tankard is handcrafted by artisans in Sheffield England. Pewter is a metal that has traditionally been used in the creation of tankards. This brushed pewter tankard with a glass bottom makes a classic men's gift for many occasions. Tankards are often found with glass bottoms. The legend or myth is that the glass bottomed allowed the drinker to see a coin in the bottom of the tankard. This was a method of conscription into the British army at the time. If the coin was spotted and the drink refused, the conscription was avoided. Another story is that the glass bottom let you view any attacks during bar fights. More probably, it allowed the drinker to see how clear the beer was before they began drinking it.
